Drew Brees disappointed many fantasy owners last week but don't throw in the towel just yet
Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are atop my Week 11 fantasy quarterback rankings. And something tells me that while they might flip-flop based on their matchups, the two of them are going to be atop my QB rankings the rest of the year. But the fantasy football player I'd like to talk about this week is No. 3 in my rankings, Drew Brees.
Brees absolutely killed his fantasy owners last week. I don't even have any seasonal shares of him this year, but he killed me in daily fantasy football (DFS) this past weekend. On top of that, I did have him ranked as my No. 2 QB last week. So he embarrassed me last weekend. And I really thought he would be doing the embarrassing given the arguments I made last week, consisting primarily of his matchup and proven history against Atlanta.
But this hobby of ours requires a short memory sometimes. A lot of fantasy owners who were burned last week by Brees will refuse to start him again this week. Benching Brees would be a mistake. Tampa Bay, the Saints' opponent this weekend, is giving up the second-most fantasy points to QBs right now. Furthermore, Brees has a knack for coming back with a vengeance. No better examples than last year. After 217 yards and no touchdowns against the Giants last year, he bounced back the following week with three touchdowns and 363 yards. Then in Week 8, he played a tough Minnesota secondary and threw for just 120 yards and one TD. The following week he responded with 346 passing yards and four scores.
I'm not letting last week impact my ranking of Brees this week and you shouldn't either.
