This could be a good week to rely on Baker Mayfield
Go ahead and skip to the Week 15 fantasy quarterback rankings if you want. But I feel like today has been a day of both explaining things to people as well as my venting about a number of things, so this will be the last one before the day is over.
One of the things about being a fantasy football "expert" (and trust me, I'm using that term loosely!), is that if you are any good, you look at everything. The fantasy football owner is usually just focused on his team's players and what other players out there might make his/her team better. Meanwhile, I am looking at every team, every situation, every player, every scheme, every coaching preference... you get the idea. So often it is necessary to "smooth out" the data points. This is why I said last week that I was "running with the pack" in my Week 14 QB rankings. But in stating that, I left out some key sentiments.
Because looking back on it, I really didn't run with the pack last week. For example, the ECR (expert consensus ranking) for Carson Wentz was the sixth-best quarterback. I liked him far less and had him at 12. He ended up 10th for the week. I also liked Drew Brees far more than the experts. I didn't have him ranked No. 1 like he ended up finishing, but I had him five spots higher than the ECR did! Of course, I also had Kyle Murray six spots higher than the ECR did. Well, you know win some, lose some.
In the case of Brees, I felt his talent outweighed the tough matchup. But I failed to specifically highlight that fact. Of course, I can't take the time to discuss each and every ranking. So look at the rankings below. If you want to ask me why I have a particular quarterback ranked in a particular place (love me some Baker Mayfield this week!), feel free to hit me up on Twitter. In the meantime, here are the rankings.
