The fantasy bandwagon for some quarterbacks seems to be getting more and more crowded. But I've been driving the Jimmy Garoppolo bus before the season even began. Apparently, some of the other experts out there refuse to believe. As of this writing, many are still on yellow when it comes to Jimmy Grapes, ranking disappointments like Cam Newton and Jameis Winston ahead of him. I don't get it. Yes, the aforementioned duo is taking on the Cardinals and Giants respectively, but Pittsburgh's D has not exactly been a steel curtain. The Steelers have already given up 640 passing yards, a number surpassed by just three other teams, and they also are without Ben Roethlisberger the rest of the season. I've got Garoppolo at least four spots higher than average and feel it's almost not enough.
On the flip side, I like Case Keenum and Marcus Mariota much less than most of the experts this week. While Jacksonville and Chicago are not matching their draft positions from a defense/special teams (DST) standpoint, both are still very strong and present very tough matchups. If Keenum or Mariota were lighting it up it might be one thing. But both have been generally replacement level. Replacement level + tough matchup = Ranking outside the top 25.
Finally, I have already been asked multiple times about this week's BAL/KC game. The Baltimore defense has been playing well, but my Ravens sources tell me that the pass coverage has been questionable ever since cornerback Jimmy Smith got hurt. Lamar Jackson has been impressive early on, but with questions about his secondary and the fact this game is in Arrowhead Stadium, I'm giving Patrick Mahomes the edge in my rankings.
