Running Back Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 1

Josh Jacobs is an appealing fantasy option because he gets first crack at a young and inexperienced Carolina defense

Week 1 of the NFL season is upon us, which means fantasy football is back! Yes, you might still have to squeeze in another draft or get those last-minute pool entries submitted. I know I was nervous that we might not have a season, but it looks we are going to kick things off on schedule.

Week 1 fantasy football rankings are typically little more than a reflection of preseason rankings. And for the most part, I will ride with the ECR (Experts Consensus Rankings). However, the one change I felt I needed to make was Josh Jacobs. I like him to be a top-10 back this year, but I really like him this week. He might be a surprise riser at second overall. However, Luke Kuechly was a huge part of the Carolina defense. Kuechly retired this offseason. Carolina was one of the better defenses but they suddenly look a lot softer. Soft enough that I see the 220-pound Jacobs piling up more than 100 yards or multiple touchdowns. Or both.

I also moved D'Andre Swift down quite a bit, as I want to see the impact of Adrian Peterson in the Lions' backfield before I include any of them in my top 25 backs.

We will see what happens this week!
