Ezekiel Elliott has not produced like a first-round pick this season
I'm tempted to start the Week 15 fantasy football running back rankings with a little victory lap after nailing both Derrick Henry and Jonathan Taylor last week. But I'll pass as there is a far more newsworthy item this week. In fact, a quick glance at both my rankings as well as the Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR) might leave you saying something very similar to what the sheriff in "Goonies" says near the end of the movie.
The player causing such astonishment is Ezekiel Elliott.
Something is not right. Perhaps Elliott is hiding an injury, but I'm guessing otherwise. A rationale explanation could be something as simple as Dallas having injuries along their usually stalwart offensive line. Or maybe with Dak Prescott out, defenses having been put eight or nine men in the box even more often. Yet the problem with either of those explanations is Tony Pollard is completely outproducing Zeke right now. Here are the facts:
- Pollard saw a season-high 13 touches this past week
- It was one less touch than Ezekiel Elliott's 14
- Elliott is averaging 3.9 yards per carry; Pollard is at 4.5
If you have Zeke, you have to continue to start him. But if you are banking on him giving you top-five fantasy RB numbers, I'm sorry, but that ship has sailed this season. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
