Running Back Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 2

Joe Mixon has a sprained ankle, which sends him down in the ranks and brings up Giovani Bernard

Fantasy football season is here, and Week 1 is in the books. Melvin Gordon is still out, but Ezekiel Elliott is back in. Elliott was on a pitch count in Week 1, but he should be full go in Week 2. He's ranked No. 4 and should be started as a top running back. With other running back injuries (Tevin Coleman, Derrius Guice), others have moved up the ranks (Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert, Adrian Peterson). Some of these are just fill-ins for a few weeks; others are for longer.

Note that Joe Mixon is still ranked, but is significantly lower than normal. Giovani Bernard is ranked as an RB3/flex play. Mixon has an ankle sprain, but it's not clear if he will be able to play in Week 2. If he does play, he may be limited. if Mixon does play, avoid the entire situation if possible. Another murky situation is in Los Angeles with the Rams. Todd Gurley (ranked 13th) lost two touchdowns to Malcolm Brown (ranked 36th). Gurley is still the lead back, but the Rams are going to preserve him if they can.
