Running Back Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 9

Tevin Coleman may not score four TDs on Thursday night, but is a solid RB2

Fantasy owners hopefully didn't get burned by keeping Tevin Coleman and his four (FOUR!) touchdowns on their bench in Week 8. He looked good and Matt Breida got banged up. The 49ers play the Cardinals on Thursday night, so keep an eye on Breida's status. If he is out, Coleman will be a solid RB2. He most likely just played the best game of his season. Coleman is ranked No. 14 for Week 9.

Remember our lessons from Week 7? Don't trust the Arizona Cardinals (modified to: don't trust Chase Edmonds, who likely will be out this week). Kenyan Drake is the newest member of the Cardinals, and based on the number of injuries to Cardinals running backs, will likely play in Week 9. He has a brutal matchup and is brand new to the team's offense. He's ranked No. 34 and should be considered a low RB3.

Our other lesson? Handcuff your running backs. Let's not talk about Ty Johnson (the big waiver wire add before Week 8). Instead, let's talk about Jaylen Samuels. While fantasy owners shouldn't blow what's left of their FAAB budget on Samuels, all James Conner owners should roster him. Samuels is healthy now and Conner is dealing with a shoulder injury. Both backs are in the RB2 range right now, but that may change as practice reports come out.
