CMac is expected back this week and should be a RB1. But No. 3 overall is pushing it.
I'm feeling a little low as I do my Week 9 fantasy football running back rankings. It's been a rough week already, so please allow me to indulge in a little self-congratulation.
First off, I made a great call last week with DeeJay Dallas! Even by game time, I still had him ranked higher than the ECR (Expert Consensus Rankings)! I still like him in a dynasty league, but with Chris Carson likely back, he'll go tumbling back down my rankings. I also made a great call on Zack Moss for Week 8. I told you that he was starting to take over the backfield in Buffalo and he did.
I'm high on Moss again this week, as I have him four spots higher than the ECR (both of which are subject to change). What might be more interesting however is the RB I like less than the ECR this week. The ECR currently has Christian McCaffrey as the No. 3 overall RB. That is way too high. Can we at least see him play a snap before we anoint him as an obvious play?
For one, Mike Davis has done too well in relief to just be cast aside. Secondly, McCaffrey's matchup is nothing special, as both the running backs I have above him are facing teams that have been generous in giving up fantasy points to the position. McCaffrey should be an RB1 this week. But expecting him to be a top-three fantasy option in his first game back after missing six weeks is a little too optimistic.
Teams on bye: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia
