A quick glance at my Week 5 fantasy football rankings for tight ends and you're probably thinking, "Oh no, we're going to have to hear about how amazing Goerge Kittle is again, aren't we?" The answer is no, I'll spare you this week.
I won't even talk about Kittle's counterpart as he matches up with Mike Gesicki, who made me look dumb last week. Yes, I have Gesicki lower this week than many. But I'm not going to waste your time giving all the reasons why I lowered him besides making me look dumb.
Instead, I'd like to focus on a tight end I've discussed very little this year: Ian Thomas. Thomas is coming off his best game yet this season. He both scored and matched his 2019 high of five targets. Now in his third season, we know that Thomas can sometimes disappear. However, he also has the occasional big game. And we saw what Robert Tonyan (who I remind you is on bye this week along with T.J. Hockenson) did against the decimated Falcons secondary on Monday night, right? I don't think Thomas gets a hat trick of scores like Tonyan did. But he's definitely a TE2 at worst this week. And if it wasn't for some of the second- and third-tier TEs having nice matchups this week, he'd be a top-10 option.
Teams on bye: Detroit, Green Bay
