By and large, Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Mark Andrews figure to occupy the top three spots (in some order) in my weekly fantasy tight end rankings. However, that is not the case for Week 7. Andrews is on bye, so that explains his absence but Kelce and Kittle check in at No. 3 and 4, respectively, this week as there are two other guys I just like more.
We start with T.J. Hockenson. Hockenson now has a touchdown in each of his last two games. I don't foresee that streak ending on Sunday when the Lions take on the Falcons. Atlanta is the league's most generous when it comes to fantasy points allowed to tight ends and Hockenson has one of the higher floors of anyone at his position, which is why he's No. 2 for Week 7.
Yet I don't like him as much as I like Darren Waller this week. Waller has a much tougher matchup (vs. Tampa Bay), but I like what Waller did leading into the Raiders' bye last week. Likely relaxed and refreshed, I'll remind you that last year after the bye all Waller did was catch seven of eight targets for 126 yards and not one, but two touchdowns. I don't actually believe that is anything more than a circumstantial correlation. However, it does support my gut feeling that Waller is due for a big game. And with Kittle (at New England) and Kelce (at Denver) having tough matchups, Waller should be one of the few other TEs that should shine in Week 7.
Teams on bye: Baltimore, Indianapolis, Miami, Minnesota
