My Week 7 fantasy football tight end rankings are kind of boring as I am pretty aligned with the Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR). Except for one.
That player is Darren Waller.
The "hate" has gone way too far. When I did my rankings, the ECR had Waller at 24th overall this week. Just barely a TE2! Is he a TE1 still? Maybe, maybe not. But he's definitely a top-20 fantasy TE still. The ECR has players like Will Dissly, Noah Fant, and Tyler Conklin ahead of him. No way.
First off, the Raiders are coming off a bye, so I expect that during the bye week they worked out at least some of the kinks in their offense. They're also playing Houston, not exactly the stingiest defense in the league. Houston is not terrible against TEs, allowing a middle-of-the-pack 12.58 fantasy points per game to the position. But they also haven't played any tier 1 TEs this year either.
And Waller might still be worthy of being considered for that tier. He left his last game against the Chiefs due to a hamstring injury, but in the previous four games, he had 24 targets. He should be heavily targeted this week again. Just because the ECR is sleeping on Waller, doesn't mean you should.
See below for the rest of my Week 7 TE rankings.
