It is going to be a tough week for fantasy managers when it comes to filling the tight end position in Week 8. A quick peek at my Week 8 rankings will reveal that immediately since I have the 14th- and 16th-best TEs this season fantasy-wise ranked No. 6 and No. 4, respectively.
Part of the reason for this is because Mark Andrews and Darren Waller, two of the best at the position period, are on bye. I also don't love Travis Kelce this week, as I think the Chiefs will find other ways to beat the Giants on Monday night.
Maybe I shouldn't value Gerald Everett as a TE1 this week. But the Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR) currently has him outside the top 20 and he's definitely a top-20 option in Week 8. Jacksonville has not had a very stout defense this season and the Jaguars are the second-worst team in action this week when it comes to preventing fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Everett has now had back-to-back weeks of three targets, giving us an acceptable floor. I would not start him in a standard 12-team league, but those of you in deeper leagues without the services of Andrews or Waller might want to give Everett a long look this week.
