Don’t worry about the Questionable tag, Gronk will play today
There are quite a few tight ends on the injury report entering Week 6, but with four teams coming back from a bye, there should be plenty of fill-in options should a fantasy replacement be needed. The big injury news at the positon this week was the concussion that Jordan Reed suffered last Sunday. He’s already been ruled out, along with Eric Ebron, Tyler Eifert and Jordan Cameron.
As for the other banged up tight ends you need to know, you can find the latest information on their status below. And be sure to check out the running back and wide receiver injury updates before setting your lineup.
Teams on bye: Minnesota, Tampa Bay
Note: All games are on Sunday and times are ET.
Martellus Bennett (ankle) TE, New England Patriots vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m.
In Week 5, Bennett had six receptions, three of which went for touchdowns. He did show up on the injury report, but if there still was a Probable tag, he would likely have earned that. He's playing in Week 6, and is a TE1. The Patriots thrive when playing a two-tight end set (think back to the Aaron Hernandez years) and Bennett is an excellent complement to Rob Gronkowski. Both are solid TE1 plays.
Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) TE, New England Patriots vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m.
Gronkowski will likely put in limited practices all week, be on the injury report as Questionable, and play in the game each week of the season, assuming no other injury occurs. He did miss practice this week with what was noted as "illness," but it doesn't appear anything will keep him out of the game. Gronkowski has been working his way back into his regular role, and he finally looked like himself in Week 5. He didn't find the end zone, but he did rack up five receptions for 109 yards. His time is coming to show off the Gronk spike.
Zach Miller (ribs), TE, Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 p.m.
Miller was on the injury report last week with the same malady and played, finishing with seven receptions for 73 yards. He came out of the game seemingly no worse for the wear, and even though he missed practice on Wednesday, he returned for a limited session on Thursday and Friday. He's on track to play in Week 5 and is a low TE1 in a tough matchup. Brian Hoyer continually looks for Miller, which does keep him on the TE1 radar.
Gary Barnidge (forearm), TE, Cleveland Browns at Tennessee Titans, 1 p.m.
After being limited in practice all week, Barnidge is on the injury report with both a forearm and a hip injury. However, all signs point to him playing against a Titans defense that has not given up more than four receptions to opposing tight ends. However, they also have not played any of the elite tight ends in the league. Barnidge is only a TE2 this week given the matchup, the injuries, and the quarterback situation in Cleveland.
