DFS Sleeper Quarterbacks in Week 8

These QBs are flying under the radar in DraftKings and FanDuel contests.

The back end of the fantasy quarterback pool is a minefield of emptiness for many weeks. The goal is to find a player with a chance to score more than 20.00 fantasy points at DraftKings or FanDuel. Ideally, 300 passing yards and two scores put a low-end quarterback in a playable range. Any option with more scores should be a winning edge for their price point.

Week 8 Positional Rankings: QB I RB I WR I TE I DST I K I Flex

Teams on bye: Kansas City, Los Angeles Chargers

Here’s a look at the best-value quarterbacks in Week 8:

Daniel Jones, New York Giants (DraftKings – $5,700/FanDuel – $7,500)

Over the first seven games, Jones averaged 175 passing yards with six passing touchdowns. His floor has been helped by a higher role in the run game (58/343/3). Last week, he gained a season-high 309 combined yards with two scores. Jones scored more than 20.00 fantasy points in only one other matchup (22.35 fantasy points). Seattle climbed to 23rd in quarterback defense (22.25 FPPG) due to better play over their last three games (213/2, 322/0, and 315/2). Their disaster showing came in Week 4 (DET – 385/4). The Seahawks will give up plenty of yards on the ground (212/1,048/10 – 4.9 yards per carry), pointing to a big game by Saquon Barkley. If Jones can snipe one rushing touchdown, he has a reasonable chance of posting a winning score for his salary level in the daily games.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (DraftKings – $5,500/FanDuel – $7,300)

Goff struggled to make plays over his last two matchups (236/0 and 232/0) while extending his interception streak to four games. Over three contests at home, his play has been much better (857 combined yards with 10 touchdowns). Injuries to Amon-Ra St. Brown crushed his ceiling over his last three starts. Miami ranks 27th in defending the quarterback position (23.49 FPPG). Three teams passed for more than 300 yards (BAL – 318/3, BUF – 400/2, and CIN – 310/2). The Dolphins played well against the pass over the last three weeks (210/0, 175/2, and 257/1). The Lions’ defense will give up plenty of points, forcing Goff to be more productive passing the ball. With St. Brown expected to play, Goff has one elite option to pair with him in Week 8.

Davis Mills, Houston Texans (DraftKings – $5,200/FanDuel – $6,500)

The Texans played four of their first six games on the road. Mills enters Week 8 coming off his best start (302/2) of the season last week against the Raiders. He only has seven touchdowns over his six matchups while averaging 6.5 yards per pass attempt. Tennessee played poorly vs. quarterbacks in four matchups (BUF – 329/4, LV – 324/2, IND – 352/2, and WAS – 359/2), leading to them ranking 28th in fantasy points allowed per game (23.57). Brandin Cooks is well behind his expected pace (28/281/1), inviting a possible correction game in this matchup. I don’t expect Mills to be on many rosters this week, giving those that do add him to their lineup a competitive advantage if he indeed does play well.
