When UFC fighter Conor McGregor said he would be interested in fighting boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. on "CONAN" back in 2015, the world started to imagine what a matchup between the two would look like. On Aug. 26, all eyes will be on Mayweather vs. McGregor as fighting fans will see these two champions square off against one another.

For over two years, fans of both boxing and mixed martial arts have had to debate as to who was the better fighter. While the buildup for this fight has been long, the matchup has created a lot of excitement around what could happen, and this fight has the potential to be the biggest sporting event of the year.

While Mayweather may be predicted to win easily, fans of fighting know that one punch can change the outlook immediately. With all of the trash talking coming from both sides, it's obvious that both fighters are going to give it all they've got to make sure they come out with the win.

Ways to Watch

The fight is set for Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. For people that can't make the trip, the fight will be broadcast by Showtime PPV. Pricing and exact times for the event have not yet been announced, but if the huge May 2015 fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is any indicator, the cost will not be cheap. Eager fans ponied up $100 for a high-definition feed of that PPV event with standard definition coming in at $90.

Mayweather vs McGregor Betting Odds

On the day that the fight became official, online sportsbook Bovada had set the odds in favor of Mayweather (-800) over McGregor (+500). As of July 7, those odds have been brought a little closer, but Mayweather (-600) is still predicted to win over McGregor (+400).

The odds have likely gotten closer due to the high volume of bets for McGregor, in hopes of winning big should the UFC fighter upset the undefeated, five-division champion boxer.

Betting on the specific methods of victory give better odds for fans, especially if you think that this fight could go the distance.

What Mayweather Must Do to Win

All signs point to an easy win by Mayweather, mostly due to the fact that they are boxing, which is Mayweather's sport. That doesn't mean that he's just going to be able to walk into T-Mobile Arena and expect to beat McGregor without a fight.

Mayweather will need to make sure to maintain his defensive style through the earlier rounds, and wear down McGregor. That's not saying that he shouldn't attempt an attack on McGregor early, but if he's going to, he needs to make sure to play it safe. McGregor has knockout power, but the UFC's shorter matches may not have prepared him for the length of a boxing match. If the fight goes the distance, that difference in time would be over 10 minutes.

What McGregor Must Do to Win

McGregor's strategy to win will be simple, however it will be anything but simple to beat the undefeated Mayweather.

McGregor needs to make sure that his punches count, taking advantage of his strength and knockout power. That sounds simple enough, until you remember that Mayweather has made a career of capitalizing with his defensive style of boxing.

On top of that, videos of McGregor training haven't been the most impressive.

While McGregor should only get better as a boxer by Aug. 26, he'll need to make sure that he lands punches early and avoids having to resort to throwing wild punches. Mayweather will be ready to pounce should McGregor falter in any way offensively.

Contrary to popular belief, this fight shouldn't be one that is over in the first few rounds, but for it to go the distance would take a miracle. Mayweather shouldn't have a very hard time controlling the match and taking the victory, but McGregor has never been someone to just throw in the towel and let someone beat him up. McGregor may win some of the earlier rounds, but I don't think he has it in him to maintain dominance throughout the fight. Mayweather should be able to wear McGregor down by the middle rounds and have a good chance of ending the fight early.
