Fantasy Golf Picks: The WGC-Mexico Championship 2018

Let our fantasy experts help you pick a great golf lineup.

The WGC-Mexico Championship golf tournament is set for March 1-4 at the Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City. Thatmeans it's time to pick your optimal DraftKings fantasy golf lineup. Fortunately, our fantasy golf experts are ready to help.

Here's what our best WGC-Mexico Championship 2018 lineup looks like:

Dustin Johnson ($11,900)

The defending champion this week, DJ has made the world his oyster in World Golf Championship events, becoming the only player to own a WGC career slam at last year’s Mexico Championship. He’s third on Tour in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, and lest you think that one fewer par-5 hole at the par-71 Club de Golf Chapultepec course is a disadvantage for this mad bomber, he’s second on Tour in par-4 scoring.

Paul Casey ($8,400)

A stacked field makes this week a crap shoot, so a trustworthy anchor like Casey is a must. He hasn’t missed a cut in more than a year, and he has 18 top 20s in his last 23 worldwide starts. His consistency extends to WGC events, where he has six straight top 20s, including a T16 in Mexico last year on the strength of a 67-66 weekend.

Gary Woodland ($7,600)

Woodland has laid low since his Phoenix win, but his statistical profile is eye-opening: third in Greens in Regulation, 11th in SG: Putting. He’s cracked the World top 25 and looks poised to stay there, so grab him while he's relatively cheap.

Matthew Fitzpatrick ($7,600)

A missed cut in Dubai snapped a streak of 10 straight top-20 finishes for the fast-rising Englishman. He’s still a little unfamiliar to American audiences, but this kid’s about to become a major championship fixture. Finished T16 in Mexico last year.

Jason Dufner ($7,500)

In the year since Duf’s T23 in Mexico, he has 12 top-20 finishes, so he fits this week’s consistency theme. A rough week with the putter left him T17 at Honda last week, but he’s 15th on Tour in SG: Putting, so he gets a few more to drop this week, he could contend.

Shubhankar Sharma ($7,000)

This week’s IPO is a 21-year-old Indian phenom who has two wins on the European Tour and has already rocketed to No. 74 in the World Golf Ranking. The kid’s fearless and capable of going scary-low, as his closing 62 to win the Maybank Championship a month ago would attest.
