I have just one word for you... FOOTBALL!
Y'all know how much we love our football around here, right? I mean, we get into it hard-core. Team jerseys, beads and baubles, hats, face paint, flags, decorations.
We even get the dogs in on it! Yes, we are those people. Well, at least I am that kind of person. Kevin just goes along with it!
OK, I lied, I have one more word for you... tailgating!
Tailgating just goes hand-in-hand with football, or at least it does in MY world! I love football, and I love food, so you put them together and I am in heaven.
However, as the resident food blogger, it seems that the menu usually rests upon my shoulders when it comes to tailgate/homegate food. I don't mind it, though. If it were left up to everyone else, we would have burgers, dogs, and potato chips. But this girl likes to think outside of the bun. Tailgate food doesn't have to be predictable.
Enter Curly's West Coast IPA Style Pulled Pork. We all fell in love with this pulled pork the minute we tasted it. It is truly restaurant quality! The IPA beer BBQ sauce has such a unique rich and tangy flavor, and the pork is tender and juicy. I think we ate the first package with just our fingers, in the kitchen, standing over the counter.
We probably looked like cavemen! No words, just grabbing and eating. Not a shining moment for us in the manners department, but a true testament to how good this pulled pork really is. Now, I could have easily just put the pork on a bun with some slaw, and called it a wrap. But, like I said, I wanted to think outside of the bun. So I needed to come up with a vehicle to get this deliciousness into your face, without it being time consuming. Who wants to stand at the grill the whole time? Who wants to wait to eat? There is beer to be drunk, and smack to be talked.
We all love pizza here, so it just seemed only natural to go that route.
Now, what to add to the pizza that will complement that amazing pulled pork? I decided that nice gooey cheeses, and the bite of some red onion would be perfect.
Simple, easy, and oh soooo good!
So what are we throwing in the cooler for our next tailgate?
Naan bread, grated cheese, sliced red onion, and some Curly's Pulled Pork (found in the refrigerated meat section of your grocery store). And it doesn't just come in the West Coast IPA style. They also have:
Kansas City Style: quality beef brisket seasoned with genuine Kansas City Style BBQ Sauce... and Rio Grande Style: Seasoned pulled pork mixed with real pork chorizo, served in a bold sauce that features a delicious Tex-Mex taste and texture. All of the flavors are packaged in convenient microwavable trays, so they can be ready to eat in minutes. Of course you need some cool gear to take along too, so jump over and enter Curly’s RoadTrip Eats Tailgate Giveaway, where you can enter for a chance to win the ultimate tailgate prize package here.
