Maui Jim’s Wiki Wiki Sunglasses

In each issue of Athlon Sports & Life, we pick six of our favorite things. They may be books, automobiles, games, gear, booze, apparel or whatever happens to be awesome. Here's what made our shortlist this month:

NHL 17

Lace up your virtual skates, hockey’s best video game just got better. The latest installment of EA Sports' pro hockey game has upped the ante on excitement, game play and customization. Our favorite features include the Net Battles, which allow for dynamic action in front of the net; authentic gameplay of individual NHL goaltenders; and the seemingly never-ending customization of players, teams and arenas. Like previous versions, NHL 17 offers online and offline modes for various levels of dedication to the game. Whether you want to build your own franchise, show your national pride in World Cup of Hockey mode, or simply play a quick game, there's a puck-dropping experience for every level of gamer to enjoy. They may have a silly name (wiki wiki means "hurry quick" in Hawaiian), but there's nothing silly about the quality of these stylish sun blockers. The titanium frames make them lightweight and extremely durable, while the lenses reduce glare and block out 100% of harmful UV. Frame color options include black, silver, and gold, with lens color choices including Blue Hawaii, HCL Bronze, Maui HT, and Neutral Grey. Of course, all the UV protection and sturdiness in the world doesn't mean much if they don't look good. Fortunately, these island beauties offer a classic look that will remain stylish for years to come. MauiJim.com, $299

Dumbo Lounge Sacks

We like to lounge. A lot. So when a portable, and floatable, lounger showed up in our office, we took full advantage to test it out. It comes in a totable bag and easily unfolds. There's no pump, but rather it inflates by opening up the end and moving the sack through the air. Yes, the first time you attempt to inflate it you may feel ridiculous waving your arms around to get the air into the sack. However, after inflating multiple times, the process gets easier and feels more natural. The end result is a giant sack of air that's ripe for comfortable chilling and relaxing anywhere. DonJoy Performance POD Ankle Brace

Let's face it, many weekend warriors have weak ankles and have tried traditional wraps and confining braces that feel like they're stifling mobility. This lightweight brace feels like it carefully hugs your foot and ankle, but doesn't leave you feeling claustrophobic and confined. Although the brace is noticeable above the shoe, the support feels natural and gives an extra sense of stability and reassurance that you won't end your workout with your foot propped up on an ice pack. Qalo Ring

We first noticed these when we saw Jets wide receiver Eric Decker sporting one. Every guy who's worn an unforgiving metal band knows all too well the painful blood blisters and pinching that occurs. This solves that problem. The idea is simple: use silicone to provide a rubbery protection that metal wedding bands just can't provide while working out. We also recommend these for bikers, outdoorsmen, and really anyone who uses their hands for work or athletics. The rings come in numerous colors and patterns and are sized similar to traditional rings. Qalo.com, $20
