Diamondbacks Get Depressing Injury Update Amid Postseason Race

The Arizona Diamondbacks are in the midst of the National League Wild Card race, but they will need to get by without a key player for the time being.

Skipper Torey Lovullo announced Thursday that catcher Gabriel Moreno is set to miss a few weeks at the very least due to a leg injury, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic.

Moreno exited Monday's contest against the Cleveland Guardians with a groin issue, falling to the ground after an infield single in the second inning. He limped back to the dugout but never returned to the game.

The 2023 Gold Glove winner is hitting .262 in 86 appearances in '24 with five home runs and 41 RBI. He's been key in Arizona's 20-9 record since the beginning of July, especially defensively.

The Diamondbacks are red-hot at the moment, going 8-2 in their last 10. They've also won four in a row heading into Thursday's series opener versus the Philadelphia Phillies.
