Diamondbacks Minor League Report 4/13/2023

Bryce Jarvis turned in an impressive start for Amarillo.

The Diamondbacks minor league affiliates combined for a 2-2 record.

Triple-A: Reno Aces 6, Sacramento River Cats 8; 4-7

Blake Walston (No. 7) allowed three runs on six hits, three walks, and two strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Walston's fastball was 88-93 MPH and he had trouble commanding the pitch. He mixed in his slider, curveball, and changeup near equally, with the curve and change getting better results than the slider.

Dominic Fletcher (No. 14) walked three times out of the leadoff spot and scored two runs.

Emmanuel Rivera doubled and drove in two.

Seth Beer went hitless in four at-bats.

Diego Castillo went 1-for-3 with a walk, pushing his Reno hitting streak to 11 games to start the season.

Dominic Canzone (No. 16) doubled twice and drove in three runs.

Blaze Alexander (No. 17) singled and was hit by a pitch in his only two plate appearances. He left the game following the half inning after being  hit in the third.

Justin Martinez (No. 28) had another tough day throwing strikes, walking four in his second consecutive outing and allowing two more runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Double-A: Amarillo Sod Poodles 5, Corpus Christi Hooks 2; 4-2

Bryce Jarvis (No. 15) was excellent, holding Corpus Christi to two runs (one earned) in five innings with no walks and eight strikeouts. He walked away with the win when his teammates retook the lead in the fifth.

Ryan Bliss (No. 25) continues to fill the stat sheet offensively, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a stolen base. His fifth inning double broke a 2-2 tie.

Jordan Lawlar (No. 3) turned in another solid performance at the plate, going 1-for-3 with an RBI double down the right field line in the fifth inning.

Adrian Del Castillo was 1-for-4

A.J. Vukovich (No. 13) went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and committed a throwing error that allowed a run to score.

Christian Montes De Oca locked down a 1-2-3 ninth inning to pick up his first save of the season. His fastball sat in the mid-90s with an inconsistent slider around 86-88. Given the strong numbers he put up in his first season with the organization after signing out of the Dominican Republic in December 2021, he could be a sleeper prospect as a reliever.

High-A: Hillsboro Hops 3, Everett AquaSox 1; 5-1

Dylan Ray turned in another solid start, holding Everett to just a solo home run over 5.1 innings with no walks and six strikeouts. His fastball was in the mid-90s with a downhill angle and late arm-side run and used his slider as his main secondary pitch.

Wilderd Patiño (No. 18) was 0-for-4

Shane Muntz had a pair of singles, including an infield single on a ball ripped down the third base line during the Hops' three-run sixth inning.

Low-A Visalia Rawhide 0, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 6; 1-5

Manuel Peña (No. 19) was 0-for-3 with a walk
