Kluber Throws a Complete Game Shutout as Indians Erupt for 12 runs, Three Takeaways from 12-0 Victory

On Monday evening the Cleveland Indians played their first game of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. The game didn't begin until 7:30 PM following a brief rain delay.

The Indians came into this four-game series riding a five-game winning streak and the Orioles, on the other hand, have won two games in a row.

Coming into the game the Indians sit atop the AL Central with a record of 36-31 and are two games ahead of the Minnesota Twins. The Orioles are in fourth place in the AL East and are 34-34 heading into this matchup.

Following a 12-0 victory the Cleveland Indians improve to 37-31 and the Orioles fall to 34-35 on the season.

Here's our Three Takeaways from the Indians victory this evening.

1.) Indians Incredible Offensive Outburst

The bats were quiet early on in the ballgame but that did not last long. Once the fourth inning came around the Cleveland Indians managed to score four runs and they were not even close to finished. The following inning the Indians struck for four more runs and in the sixth inning pushed across 3 more runs.

The Indians were leading 11-0 by the time the seventh inning came around and tacked on one more run in the ninth.

The team found multiple ways to score from a few homers, 7 doubles, and a triple. The Indians banged out 17 hits in the ballgame.

The duo of Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Ramirez continued to impress and account for 6 of the 12 runs scored. Ramirez went 3-6 and Encarnacion went 1-4 with two walks on the night. Every starter in the lineup had a hit except for Francisco Lindor who went 0-6.

Ramirez has been tearing things up recently as well.

2.) Corey Kluber was Nearly Unhittable

Corey Kluber had excellent stuff during tonight's game against the Orioles. Kluber only allowed three hits in the ballgame and did not allow a runner to go past first base.

At one point in the ballgame, Kluber had retired 15 consecutive batters in a row.

Kluber earned his 6th victory on the season following a complete game shutout.

Kluber pitched 9 innings, allowed 3 hits, walked nobody, and struck out 11 batters. Kluber earned his second shutout of the season tonight. Following the shutout, Kluber is now tied with Minnesota's Ervin Santana for most shutouts this season.

Kluber has tossed 12 career complete games and has 5 career shutouts.

Kluber coninutes to look excellent since coming off the disbaled list.

3.) Deja Vu

Remember back in 2016 when the Indians won 14 games in a row? Well, it was a major turnaround to the 2016 Indians season once that happened. The win streak was from June 17 up until July 1.

Right now the Indians have won their 6th game in a row. The win streak began on June 15 and is currently still going. Timing is everything and I am not guaranteeing another 14 game win streak but it is odd that the Indians are streaking once again in June for the second straight year.

Some fans were already very critical of the Indians start to the season and have even claimed that this team is nowhere close to being able to reach the World Series once again. Those fans have also deemed the season over already in the month of June.

In the 6 game win streak, the Indians have played this well without Michael Brantley in the lineup and without Danny Salazar in the starting rotation.

Tomorrow, the Indians will be looking to extend their win streak to seven games in a row. The Tribe will be sending Josh Tomlin to the hill and will be opposed by Chris Tillman.

First pitch is expected to be at 7:05 PM EST.
