Aaron Judge Named AL Player Of The Month For August

Judge hit 12 home runs with a 1.386 OPS during the month.

Aaron Judge picked up his third American League Player of the Month award on Tuesday.

MLB named Judge the AL Player of the Month for August. He hit .389 with a 1.386 OPS in 26 games during the month. Judge’s 12 home runs were the most by a player in the American League as well in August. The captain also walked more than he struck out, the first time he had accomplished this in a month this season.

The New York Yankees outfielder also earned the honor in both May and June of this year. August was the ninth time that Judge has earned a Player of the Month award during his career. He was also given the honor three times during his 2022 AL MVP season.

Judge ended August as the American League’s favorite to win the MVP award. He leads the league with 51 home runs, 124 runs batted in, a .459 on-base percentage, a .711 slugging percentage, a 1.170 OPS, and a 9.6 WAR. The captain has led the Yankees to the best record in the American League and has the Bronx Bombers 0.5 games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East.

The slugger’s August success has not continued into September. Judge is 1-9 with five strikeouts since the calendar flipped to September.

Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks was the National League Player of the Month for August.

Judge and the Yankees play their next game on Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers.
