Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies placed struggling second baseman Chase Utley on the 15-day disabled list following Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees.
Utley has been sidelined three of the past six games with right ankle inflammation.
The 36-year-old former All-Star is mired in the worst start of his career, hitting a horrid .179 with four home runs and 25 RBI. The career .281 hitter has not recorded a multi-hit game since June 2.
To fill his spot on the roster, the Phillies recalled outfielder Darin Ruf from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
