Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday placed first baseman/outfielder Corey Hart on the 15-day disabled list.
Hart was officially shelved due to a left shoulder impingement. On a one-year contract signed in December, the 33-year-old has hit just .222 with two home runs and nine RBI over 35 games for the Bucs.
To fill the roster spot, the Pirates selected the contract of pitcher Chris Volstad from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Volstad hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013 with Colorado. He was 5-2 with a 3.43 earned run average over 14 appearances (12 starts) at Indy this season.
