San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Buster Posey smacked a grand slam and the San Francisco Giants blanked the San Diego Padres 6-0 in the middle test of a three-game set.
Ryan Vogelsong (6-5) tossed six innings, scattering five hits and walking two for the Giants, who have won four of their last six games.
Andrew Susac had two hits and scored a pair of runs.
"Great game by Susac," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Called a shutout ... I thought every at-bat was pretty good."
Ian Kennedy (4-6) allowed six runs -- one earned -- on five hits and four walks with six strikeouts for San Diego, which has dropped seven of its last 10 games.
The Giants jumped out to a huge lead after plating five unearned runs in the third. Will Middlebrooks was unable to handle the leadoff hitter Susac's grounder to third and Gregor Blanco's single put runners on the corners. Vogelsong's sacrifice bunt moved Blanco to second and Angel Pagan walked to load the bases. Joe Panik's sacrifice fly to right plated Susac for the game's first run and a walk to Matt Duffy reloaded the bases.
"If you didn't give them those extra outs it's a different game," Padres interim manager Patrick Murphy said of the error.
Posey then launched his grand slam into the seats in left to make it 5-0. It was his second grand slam in five days.
"That's a two-strike grand slam, those are hard to beat," Bochy said.
Susac tripled with one out in the fourth and Blanco followed with a single to push him across the plate.
The Giants selected the contract of 2014 postseason hero Travis Ishikawa from Triple-A Sacramento to replace injured outfielder Nori Aoki on the active roster ... The Padres were shut out for an MLB-leading 11th time this season ... Posey's homer was his 11th of the year ... The Padres were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
