New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The number of Kansas City Royals who lead in the All-Star voting for starting positions has grown to seven in the latest ballot update.
First baseman Eric Hosmer and designated hitter Kendrys Morales have taken over as the leading vote-getters at their respective positions. Hosmer has overtaken Detroit's Miguel Cabrera, while Morales surpassed Seattle's Nelson Cruz.
Catcher Salvador Perez continues to pace all AL players in votes with 4,419,620. Outfielder Lorenzo Cain ranks second in votes, while third baseman Mike Moustakas is third.
Shortstop Alcides Escobar has a comfortable lead on Detroit's Jose Iglesias, while Alex Gordon remains third behind the Angels' Mike Trout in the outfield vote.
Second baseman Omar Infante remains in second place behind Houston's Jose Altuve, trailing him by fewer than 160,000 votes.
This year's All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
