This is one way to get attention
This is what happens when brands and sports teams try to get too cute on social media.
The San Diego Padres momentarily changed their Twitter handle to the @Madres to celebrate Mother's Day. Obviously once people realized what the baseball club had done, everyone wondered where the original handle would take you and it was a mad dash to get it.
Crisis averted. Order restored. The @Padres handle is now frozen by twitter, and the @Madres bio is updated for Mother’s Day. I obviously don’t know all the details, but here’s how I imagine this whole thing goes down... pic.twitter.com/eSPbTcG3Uv— brady phelps (@LobShots) May 12, 2019
It seems the guy who took it had it for a couple hours but the power that the Padres and Twitter hold restored things back to normal.
Hi Ricky, thanks for keeping @Padres safe this morning. We'd love to invite you and your Madre and Padre to a game when the team is back in town. Check your DMs!— San Diego Padres (@Padres) May 12, 2019
Interesting way of going about getting tickets but it worked so we really can't judge.
