Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers activated pitcher Anibal Sanchez from the 15-day disabled list to take the mound against the Indians on Saturday.
The Venezuelan native will be making his first start since June 15 when he allowed two runs on five hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings. He has been out since with a strained right shoulder.
On the year the 29-year-old righty is 6-5 with a 2.76 earned run average in 13 starts.
The Tigers optioned pitcher Jose Alvarez to Triple-A Toledo to make room for Sanchez. Alvarez went 1-2 with a 5.03 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings over four starts for the Tigers.
