New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout has been selected as the American League's Player of the Month for June.
Trout hit .361 with seven homers, 21 RBI and 20 runs scored over 25 June games, while leading all AL qualifying players in on-base percentage (.471), slugging percentage (.759) and extra-base hits (18).
The 2012 AL Rookie of the Year put together a 13-game hitting streak during the month, highlighted by a two-homer, four-RBI performance at Cleveland on June 17. Three days earlier, Trout finished a triple shy of the cycle while also knocking in four runs to lead the Angels to an 11-6 win at Atlanta.
Trout claimed the AL's monthly award for the second time in his career, also earning the honor in July of 2012.
