NASCAR Starting Lineup for Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway

Defending Monster Energy Cup Series champion Joey Logano is on the pole

Michigan is U.S. home base for some of the top auto manufacturers in the country. It's a place where Ford is looking to cash in on some more bragging rights than usual: a third straight victory at the NASCAR oval right in their own backyard. Michigan International Speedway's two-mile oval in Brooklyn, a little over an hour west of Detroit, serves as the backdrop for the biggest manufacturer battle of the season.

The Blue Oval crowd will be cheering on Joey Logano who earned the pole for Sunday's 2019 FireKeepers Casino 400. Logano, who won this race from the pole three years ago, is seeking a second victory this season that would clinch his spot in the playoffs. The reigning champion is second in the standings and a strong contender to repeat his performance down at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Fords swept the top three spots with Team Penske's main rival, Stewart-Haas Racing, also making an impact on the starting grid. Aric Almirola qualified second, Kevin Harvick third and all four of their Fusions ended up in the top nine positions. The top Toyota was Denny Hamlin in fourth, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing while Kurt Busch was the best Chevrolet in seventh.

Thirty-six cars attempted to qualify for 40 spots on the Michigan grid, meaning all drivers made the race. No unchartered cars attempted the event; everyone who made a qualifying attempt was from a full-time Cup team.
