NASCAR Starting Lineup for Sunday's Gander RV 400 at Pocono Raceway

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series moves into the second part of its northern swing as it heads to Pocono Raceway this weekend for the Gander RV 400. Located in the mountains of Pennsylvania, the 2.5-mile, three-turn track has affectionately gained the nickname The Tricky Triangle. Its layout makes it one of the most unique and challenging courses on the NASCAR schedule.

This is the Cup Series’ second Pocono stop of the season, as Kyle Busch dominated the race there on June 2. Next season, NASCAR will combine the two Pocono dates into one doubleheader weekend, with the first race coming on a Saturday in June and the second on the following day.

Busch has won three of the past four Pocono races, but it was all Blue Ovals in qualifying, as Ford took the top three spots on Saturday evening (July 27). Kevin Harvick won the pole for the race, while the Fords of Joey Logano and Aric Almirola will start the race in second and third. Busch, meanwhile, will have to come from the seventh position if he is to continue his Pocono hot streak.

Only 38 cars including two unchartered teams, the No. 27 of Reed Sorenson and the No. 53 of Josh Bilicki, showed up to compete this weekend. That means no one failed to qualify as NASCAR continues to struggle to find new owners, manufacturers and teams to fill the rest of its 40-car grid.
