Boilermakers hold off Gophers despite Banham's big 2nd half
Minnesota Gophers 72
Purdue Boilermakers 84
The Minnesota Gophers dropped back below .500 in Big Ten play as they fell to Purdue 84-72 Thursday night in West Lafayette, Indiana.
1. Banham's big second half – not enough
Rachel Banham scored 22 of her 27 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough to lead the Gophers back against the Boilermakers.
Banham finished the night 12-of-24 from the floor, including 3-of-8 from the three-point line.
2. McBryde proves to be unstoppable
Dominique McBryde gave Purdue a big boost off the bench. She was 7-of-8 from the floor and put up 22 points in the game. McBryde also grabbed eight rebounds.

3. Turnovers and free throws haunt Gophers
Neither the Gophers nor Purdue shot very well – both teams were under 40 percent from the floor.
But Minnesota turned it over 17 times, and Purdue outshot the Gophers at the free throw line significantly. Minnesota was 13-of-17 from the stripe, while Purdue was 28-of-36.
