Minnesota-Duluth smokes Gophers, salvage series split
The Gophers couldn't carry over the momentum built Friday in their 6-1 win over UMD, and took one on the chin at Mariucci Arena Sunday, losing 6-2.
The No. 19 Bulldogs were excellent on the power play, scoring four out of seven times, and Justin Crandall scored twice while assisting on two of the six Minnesota-Duluth goals as well.
The Gophers got both of their goals on the power play, one each in the second and third periods, but missed capitalizing seven other times on the man advantage.
The loss is just the second of the year for the Gophers, the other coming at the hands of No. 6 Notre Dame, while UMD moves back above .500, sitting at 6-5-1.
