Wolves: Kevin Love finished 11th in NBA MVP vote
He wasn't expected to win, but Timberwolves All-Star power forward Kevin Love finished 11th in the vote for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award.
The league announced today that Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant won the award, garnering 119 of a possible 125 first place votes. Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James of the Miami Heat claimed the remaining six first-place votes.
Love was given two third-place votes, three votes for fourth place and six votes for fifth place. He finished just ahead of San Antonio Spurs big man Tim Duncan, and just behind Portland Trail Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, whom Love earned an All-Star nod over.
Love had one of the greatest single seasons in Timberwolves franchise history. No Timberwolf, not even the great Kevin Garnett, scored more points in a single season than Love did this year (2,010). Love became the first player in NBA history to finish with 2,000-points, 900 rebounds (963) and 100 3-pointers (190) in a season, according to 1500 ESPN.
