Joe Mauer leaves game with back spasms, listed as day to day
Joe Mauer left Sunday afternoon's game against the Baltimore Orioles with lower back spasms, he is now listed as day to day, Major League Baseball reports.
The first baseman played the first two innings in the field. In the first inning at his only at-bat, he hit a fly ball to center field. He took the field again for the top of the second, but was then replaced by Chris Colabello at first base for the top of the third, according to media reports.
Mauer was on a hot streak prior to Sunday's game. He was hitting .404 over his pervious eight games and had four RBIs on Saturday, including a three-run home run, MLB says.
The Twins beat the Orioles 5-2 on Sunday.
