The Twins hope to continue their winning ways when the Boston Red Sox come to Minneapolis for the first of a three-game series at Target Field Tuesday.

The club plans to start Ricky Nolasco (2-3), pictured, against the Red Sox's Felix Doubront (1-3) on Tuesday. The first pitch is at 7:10 p.m.

The Twins improved to 17-19 after a comeback win against the Tigers, 4-3, in Detroit Sunday. The team, which is fifth place in the AL Central, won its weekend series against Tigers, 2-1. The Tigers remain atop the AL Central with a 21-12 record.

The Twins-Red Sox series marks the first time the two teams have met this year. Fansided.com's Red Sox blog, Red Sox Injection, noted that the 2013 World Series champions went 4-3 against the Twins last year, including a three-game sweep against the team at Target Field in July.

Red Sox Injection interviewed the editor of Fansided's Twins blog, Puckett's Pond, about the upcoming series, and he said the promise the team showed in April is starting to flatten out.

"This is pretty much exactly where Twins fans thought they would be," Collin Kottke said. "Expectations got a little higher after the fairly positive April, but the Twins are coming back to Earth."

Boston (19-18) is currently sitting in third place in the AL East, a half game behind the second-place New York Yankees and two games behind the division-leading Baltimore Orioles.

Boston comes to Minneapolis on the heels of the 2-1 weekend series victory at Texas against the Rangers.
