Twins win, sweep 4-game series with White Sox
The Minnesota Twins came from behind again to defeat the Chicago White Sox 6-5 Sunday afternoon at Target Field to complete a four-game sweep for the first time in three years, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Twins starter Phil Hughes (8-3) had a rough third inning, giving up five runs on five singles and a double, as well as his first walk in 107 batters. He left after the fifth, and the bullpen shut down the Sox. Jared Burton pitched a perfect ninth inning to get his eighth career save. It was Burton's first save since May 30 last season, according to the Star Tribune.
Minnesota started the scoring, with a run in the first inning and two more in the second. After the White Sox took the 5-3 lead in the third, the Twins responded with three more runs in the fourth inning on hits from Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer, and a sacrifice fly from Josh Willingham.
Mauer, who also drove in a run with a single in the second, has come out of his slump against the White Sox. He entered the series with a .254 batting average and only three RBIs in his past 31 games, according to MLB.com. But his 2-for-4 performance on Sunday raised his average to .261, and he scored six RBIs against the White Sox in the series.

Before the series began, the Twins had lost five straight games. But now they're just games below .500, and tied for third place in the AL Central.
They travel to California for a three-game series against the Angels beginning Tuesday.
