No compensatory picks for Vikings, draft order set
The Vikings won't be awarded any compensatory picks in the 2014 NFL draft, according to an announcement from the league on Monday.
1500 ESPN reports the league announced 32 compensatory picks, which will go to 13 different teams as repayment for losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquired the previous year.
A press release from the NFL explains how compensatory picks are distributed.
This year, the compensatory picks will be positioned within the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost.
Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

It wasn't a surprise the Vikings didn't receive a compensatory pick this year.

They have two picks in the third round 72nd and 96th. They will also have picks 108 (4th round), 148 (5th round), 184 (6th round), and 223 (7th round).
