Report: Allen 'unlikely' to sign with Cowboys
It doesn't look like Jared Allen will sign with the Dallas Cowboys.
FOX Sports Mike Garafolo reports that Allen is unlikely to sign with the Cowboys after what was considered to be a positive visit. Allen was reportedly mulling his career options, according to reports earlier on Tuesday.
According to Pro Football Talk, Allen is looking for a "fair" contract and a "chance to win." Pro Football Talk reports that it's possible the range in which the Cowboys were willing to pay didn't sufficiently exceed Seattle's range to justify the smaller chance of winning that exists in Dallas.
NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport says Allen has four options, but wasn't going to decide anything until after he had a conversation with his wife.
- Sign with the Cowboys
- Sign with the Seahawks, whom he recently met with
- Schedule meetings with more teams
- Retire

The Dallas Morning News reports that Allen flew to Dallas and had dinner with Cowboys officials on Monday night, shortly after helping out a veteran in Luverne, Minnesota through his Homes for Wounded Warriors charity.
According to the report, Allen's agent was in discussions with the Denver Broncos about a possible three-year, $30 million deal, but an offer was never made. Denver decided to give a similar deal to former Cowboys star pass rusher DeMarcus Ware.
"There were reports of Jared allegedly turning down a supposed $30 million offer from a team during the three-day period prior to free agency," Allen's agent Ken Harris told Rapoport in a text message. "First, Jared was never offered that, so it was never on the table for him to accept or turn down. Second, it would have been a violation for a team to even make an offer during that period. We never spoke to that team outside of that three-day period either."
The report notes that Allen has had five teams call him with interest, but he's made two visits and hasn't scheduled any more.
Allen will be 32-years-old when next season begins. He's averaged 14.5 sacks over the last seven seasons.
