LSU Star Reese Partners with Goldman Sachs to Help Narrow Racial Wealth Gap

Angel Reese and her Mother star in TV commercial to air during March Madness

Reigning champ Angel Reese and LSU begin their quest to repeat on Friday but before they hit the hardwood, the SEC Player of the Year is leveraging her NIL to stand for something bigger than basketball.

The Tigers' senior and NIL superstar has partnered with Goldman Sachs to inspire policy solutions to help narrow the racial wealth gap. Reese is collaborating with the global financial institution's One Million Black Women (OMBW) to amplify the voices of Black women to policy makers in Washington, following a new national survey that shares the hurdles Black women face in pursuit of generational wealth building.

To further the message, Reese and her Mom star in a new commercial that will run on ESPN and Connected TV during the Elite Eight and Final Four. The spot - written, produced and directed by Maura Chanz and ColorCreative, a Black women-owned and run management company - the Reese's highlight the barriers impacting Black women’s ability to leave a financial legacy for their families.

“I owe so much to my mom. She instilled in me my confidence, work ethic and my commitment to my community. It’s clear that from her generation to today, Black women are still facing challenges,” said Reese. “But I believe change is possible. I’m proud to be teaming up with Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women to make sure the voices of Black women in my community and across the country are heard.”

Reese and her Mom are OMBW partners alongside South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley and Dr. Bernice A. King, CEO of the King Center.

“I’m proud to see Angel using her platform to level the playing field for Black women and talking about these important issues. My hope is that these statistics and the real-life experiences that they represent will be a wake-up call for Congress and other leaders to work with Black women to create a future where everyone has an opportunity to achieve their goals and leave a legacy,” said Angel Webb Reese, Angel' Mom.

While Reese burst onto the national scene in a big way a year ago during the NCAA Tournament, she has signed utilized her platform for change. Beyond her many NIL partnerships, she launched the Angel C. Reese Foundation dedicated to empowering girls and women through sports, education, financial literacy, and more.

Reese and the number three-seed Tigers begin their repeat quest on Friday against 14-seed Rice.
