Guadalupe County Rodeo Goes Out With A Bang
SEGUIN, Texas.- With the 140th Annual Guadalupe County Fair and Rodeo coming to a conclusion last night, there wasn't much movement on the leaderboard, though the small town atmosphere still thrived in the arena. Not only was the rodeo full of excitement, but it gave athletes a good start to the 2024 PRCA season.
Bareback Riding
After three nights Taylor Broussard led the way with his 83-point ride on Lancaster and Cude Pro Rodeo's "Smoke Jacket." Trailing behind him in second was Payton Lackey with his 75-point ride. Ethan Crouch came in a close third with a 74-point ride.
Steer Wrestling
Jace Melvin took home the first place spot with his 3.7-second go. Closely behind him in second is Kalane Anders with his 3.8-second run. Finally in third, was Mitch Hutto with a solid 5.1-second wrestle.
Team Roping
With Cash Duty and B.J. Dugger coming in first on a 4.0-second run, it was a tough field to compete in. Reno Stoebner and Truman Magnus came in second with their 4.3-second go. With a 4.6-second run, Chad Masters and Matt Schienk came in third place.
Saddle Bronc Riding
Brandon Lansford stole the show with his first place 86-point ride on Lancaster and Cude Pro Rodeo's "Pertnear". Behind him quite a ways in second was Parker Kempfer and his 79-point ride. Following closely in a third place tie for 78 points is Cody Ballard and Darcey Radel.
Tie-down Roping
First place was a tie between Ace Slone and Nick Achille their 8.4-second run. Trailed closely by Sterling Smith's 8.6-second run, Smith made it into the number three spot.
Breakaway Roping
Jordan Jo Hollabaugh took home the buckle in Seguin on a 2.2-second run. In a tie for second, Sydnie Romero and Shayla Smith were so close with a 2.3-second try.
Barrel Racing
Krystal Dillman had the quickest trip around the barrels with her 14.72 run. Abby Phillips followed behind her in second with a 14.98 effort. Claiming the third place spot was Cheyenne Wimberley and her 15.18 run.
Bull Riding
We had another first place tie with Chase Dougherty on Lancaster and Cude Pro Rodeo's "Little Blue Demon" and Elijah Mora on Lancaster and Cude Pro Rodeo's "Wall Banger" for 87.5-points. Coming in a close third was Wyatt Rogers and his 87-point ride.
With the conclusion of the 140th Guadalupe County Rodeo in Seguin on Saturday night, it was definitely a rodeo to remember.
