Pippen has been a high profile player since his retirement from the NBA in October 2004 because of his outspoken nature and unwillingness to shy away from controversy.
On Friday, Pippen, whose sons Scotty Jr. and Justin play for the Grizzlies and Michigan Wolverines, respectively, conjured up a groundswell of attention from X as he took a break from his serious nature to share a humorous post that went certified viral in a matter of hours.

Scottie Pippen Sr. gave himself a funny nickname as he shared an NFT style post that appeared in lockstep with his support of cryptocurrency in recent months.
Fans joined in on the fun as they shared similar posts in the comments section.
Pippen averaged 16.1 points per game during his 1,178-game NBA career with the Bulls, Rockets and Blazers. He played one final season with Chicago in 2003-2004 before retiring, shortly after spending four years in Portland.
Fans continued to have fun with Pippen's iconic last name as they shared more images throughout the day.

A native of Hamburg, Arkansas, Pippen, played his college ball at Central Arkansas for the Bears before being taken number five overall in the 1987 NBA Draft.
He was selected by the Seattle Supersonics and traded for center Olden Polynice along with picks that would eventually become Sylvester Gray and BJ Armstrong.
