Kawhi's reaction to debut with Raptors: 'Having fun'

Kawhi Leonard made his long-awaited return to the court and his much-anticipated debut with the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night in Vancouver.

Leonard, acquired along with Danny Green from the San Antonio Spurs in July, scored 12 points and added one rebound and three assists in 19 minutes as the Raptors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers, 122-104, in the preseason opener for both teams.

"Yeah, you know it's going to take time to get my rhythm, but I felt great being out there and just being able to compete," Leonard told reporters after the game. "It was important just for me getting acclimated to the team. Like I was saying, in game play calls, seeing what everyone does on the floor, so it was important."

Leonard, a two-time first-team All-NBA performer, struggled with his shot, gong 3-for-8, missing all four attempts from beyond the 3-point arc and connecting on only 6-of-11 from the free-throw line. But he appeared to move well and was aggressive on both ends to the floor.

The 2014 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player had not played in a game since January. He played in only nine games for San Antonio last season because of an injury to his right quadriceps.

Portland's backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum played the first quarter, scoring 12 and nine points, respectively.
