Irving, Celtics stun Spurs for fifth straight

Behind 24 points and six assists from All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, the Boston Celtics (5-2) beat the San Antonio Spurs (4-3), 108-94, for their fifth straight win after starting the season 0-2.

Celtics second-year swingman Jaylen Brown continued his trend of playing well at home, scoring 18 points and grabbing four rebounds. Big man Al Horford chipped in a double-double, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Spurs, who are still without superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard, were led in scoring by former Illini star Brandon Paul, who registered 18 points in 30 minutes.

The Celtics pulled away in the third quarter, as they outscored the Spurs 26-18.

Irving has been stellar during Boston's current winning streak, averaging 22.6 points and 5.4 assists. He dropped some beautiful dimes in tonight's game, wowing the crowd with his court vision and handle of the basketball.

Irving and the Celtics will look to make it six in a row when they host the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. The Spurs, meanwhile, are off until Thursday, when the Golden State Warriors come into town.
