Report: Cavs attempting to trade for Butler

The Cleveland Cavaliers are attempting to acquire Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler via a multi-team trade, according to a report from ESPN.

Butler, 27, is a 6-foot-7 swingman and averaged 23.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists this past season. He is considered one of the league's best wing defenders. Butler is also reportedly receiving interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Phoenix Suns could be the third team involved in this trade.

The Cavs would most likely have to part ways with All-Star power forward Kevin Love in a deal for Butler.

As Sam Amico of Amico Hoops has reported, the Cavs were deep in discussions with the Indiana Pacers about star forward Paul George as of late Sunday night.

It is not known if those talks broke down, or have just been paused as both the Cavs and Pacers explore other options.
