Free agents Lawson, Wallace work out for Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans worked out free-agent point guard Ty Lawson and shooting guard Tyrone Wallace this week, according to a report from Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype.

Lawson, 30, is a former first-round draft pick who played for the Denver Nuggets from 2009-15. He has bounced around the league since then, serving stints with the Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings, as well as the Washington Wizards at the end of last season.

Lawson has been arrested four times for driving under the influence, most recently in Los Angeles in July 2015.

He averaged 9.9 points and 4.8 assists in 69 appearances with the Kings in 2016-17.

Wallace, 24, was selected by the Utah Jazz with the final pick of the 2016 draft. He spent last season on a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, coming off the bench to score a career-high 22 points against the Golden State Warriors in January.

The Pelicans are already pretty crowded at both guard positions, with Jrue Holiday, Elfrid Payton, Ian Clark, Frank Jackson among those manning the backcourt.
