Nets' Lin out for season with knee injury
Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin suffered a patellar tendon rupture in the season-opening loss to the Indiana Pacers and will miss rest of season, the team announced Thursday.
Lin scored 18 points in 25 minutes before suffering the injury. The visiting Nets dropped a 140-131 decision.
Lin, 29, started alongside D'Angelo Russell, who tied a franchise opening-night record with 30 points. Lin played 36 games in an injury-marred year last season, his first in Brooklyn, and averaged 14.5 points.
The season before that, he averaged 11.7 points in 78 games with the Charlotte Hornets.
The petellar tendon is the tissue that connects the kneecap to the shin bone.
