Report: Richardson signs $42M extension with Heat

The Miami Heat and shooting guard Josh Richardson are finalizing a four-year, $42 million contract extension, according to a report by ESPN.

Richardson, entering his third year in the league this upcoming season, has career averages of 8.4 points per game on 41.4 percent shooting from the field and 37.4 percent beyond the arc.

The Heat took Richardson in the 2nd round (40th pick) of the 2015 NBA Draft. The explosive guard averaged 10.2 points last year in the 53 games he appeared in and played a significant role in the Heat's stellar second half surge.

Richardson will be the primary backup shooting guard in 2017-18 behind Dion Waiters.
