Report: Rockets could have interest in James Johnson, Tyler Johnson

The Houston Rockets have been active in the trade market looking to add more wing defenders to the roster after losing Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute in free agency, and could have interest in acquiring James Johnson or Tyler Johnson from the Miami Heat, according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports.

Houston is aggressively trying to move veteran forward Ryan Anderson, who is due to make more than $20 million next season and just more than $21 million in 2019-20.

Amick is also reporting that the Rockets aren't pursuing a trade for Atlanta Hawks swingman Kent Bazemore.

The Heat have tried to trade Tyler Johnson this summer, but haven’t found a trade market for him yet. The 26-year-old will make a guaranteed $19.2 million in each of the next two seasons.

This past season, Johnson averaged 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 72 games, shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from three.

James Johnson, meanwhile, has three years left on his contract and is slated to make $14.4 million in 2018-19. The nine-year veteran averaged 10.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 2017-18 for the Heat, shooting 50.3 percent overall and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Carmelo Anthony will be signing a one-year, $2.4 million deal with Houston once he returns from his trip to Africa. Anthony will likely replace Ariza as the Rockets' starting small forward.
