Warriors' Kerr calls Brown a 'terrific fit'

Former Cavaliers coach Mike Brown has been hired as an assistant on Steve Kerr's staff with the Warriors.

"We’re fortunate to add someone with the pedigree and track record of Mike Brown to our coaching staff,” Kerr said. "I had the good opportunity to play under him and Coach (Gregg) Popovich in San Antonio at the end of my career."

Brown, 46, served two stints with the Cavs, including a portion of LeBron James' first run (2005-10). Following a stint with the Lakers, Brown returned to the Cavs for the 2013-14 season.

He led the Cavs to their first NBA Finals appearance in 2007, and was named the league's Coach of the Year after guiding the Cavs to 66 wins in 2008-09.

He also held assistant jobs with the Wizards, Spurs and Pacers.

"The wealth of knowledge and experience that he brings will be invaluable to our staff and our players," Kerr said. "He’s a terrific fit and we’re thrilled to have him."
